30.9.12

Hello, Mr. October

Well, the title speaks.
I still have my memories stucked at Chinese New Year , my little niece and nephews, St. Patrick's day and whatever now suddenly I reached the last quarter of the year 2012.

and my semester going to end after next week.
Toughest semester so far. Less subject but all subjects are very difficult.
I finally understand what Nutrition and Dietetics about when I reached sem 5:

counselling stimulated patient.
Study the core : Medical Nutrition Therapy
Research Proposal

Basically all these kind of prepare myself (mentally) about what I might ended up with.
Like this.

Having first batch of our senior graduated certainly bring some motivation.

A little update about whats going on around that I supposed to blog about but I didn't:

Met Dennis Yin last June and Anthony Neely in the same event <3 p="p">

ND night last June

St.John Ambulans Malaysia Southern Selangor Area (AWESOME) Charity dinner 15/9/2012
Service for Mankind

Went to other area's charity dinner.

Uni's charity run.5km

Ok i know is quite inappropriate updating this blog with some old photos but it actually something that I should have mention earlier. Sorrey!

I personally think this fortune cookie is not accurate.
I don't feel any richer this year (so far) ! hahahaha

Happy Mid-Autumn to everyone!

2.9.12

Luang Prabang, Lao PDR > Vientiane (end)

So, continue from the last post. (damn efficient this time) and ready for another batch of photos.
This house belong to the grandma on the most left, front door look like some prop house in disney movie.

another convenient store

Kids like to follow us whenever we go, basically see them everywhere.

Tiffany (left) with her 'daughter'- Phye

This wheel rim works as alarm bell for entire village. Specific knocking code for specific occasion

spending night at Meh-Mee's house.

Kids doing wake up call. FYI, sunrise at Laos is 530am.

Breakfast. Fried eggs, fried bread.

Inner of library. I am blessed with what I have now.

Time at the village passed slower than msia internet, so whenever we feel there might be almost 2 hrs passed..is just 45 minutes gone.

Another project on going at the same time: Common bathing area. Villagers use common water point to bath outside the house.
Painting library. I kinda get all the photo sequence mixed up, because I don't remember what we did on which day. A bit lost in tracking time. :)
Resting at Meh-Mee's house. The lady in red is Meh-Mee
Meh Mee's daughter/ daughter-in-law with the grandson.

Us.

Outer view of our host family house no.2.

Due to a sudden evacuation of foreigners from the island, we were forced to leave the village one day earlier than scheduled. So kinda sad about it, as I didn't feel I have contribute enough to this village. At the same time, we feel like we were refugee running away from war or something because in the afternoon when Mr. Peter break the news to us, later in the evening we have to pack and go.

HweiMing was explaining about the usage of medicine that we brought together from Msia.

Having fun time before we leave them. T.T

Photos with the kids. They were actually crying.

Their ritual on welcoming/ sending off guests. I was able to hold up my tears until Meh-Mee came and tying the blessing strings on my hand.

Last dinner

Speeches.
we have to say goodbye in this situation. Well. we do feel sad about it but sometimes thing just happened.

Our stay at Luang Prabang town area.

Insist on putting this blur photo up is because this shows: Importance of Wi-Fi to human beings.

Next day morning , street view.

Found some good stuff on the road side. local delicacies.

Pork noodle

Beef noodle

random coffee house

Laos Kip. 15000 worth a bowl of noodle as stated above. hahahaha

Alley towards our guesthouse.

ready for Kuang Si waterfall.
Magnificent view, we were thinking of those cooling water and have a good swimming time. what we didnt expect was...

...we ended up 'Kuang Si waterfall tracking'. The most dangerous track road I ever been so far.

Top of the waterfall.
Next day is the Elephant ride. (feel so sorry for those elephants)

Pak Ou cave

Basically after this cave we went to another village selling local alcohol which made of scorpions, snakes..
Food hunting at night market nearby our guesthouse (photos taken from Fish's fb). Last night at Luang Prabang spent well.

Next day morning we have to take 10 hours bus ride back to Vientiane. Distance between LP and Vientiane is 200km, but the road available is something like Fraser Hill, Genting and Cameron. So this 10 hours bus ride is ain't easy.

View.

But the view all the way is kind of adding some points in this journey.

Stop by in a village for lunch.

when we reach Vientiane

After settling down, out for dinner.

Fried cricket. Taste like fried shrimp with shells.

Next day morning. ready to head home.
Out for breakfast
Wantan mee and local food

Airport

Checking in.

Our transport.

I am not regret about skipping one week of classes and fly to Laos which some people even laugh at me about this. I can see from their faces when I told them I have to pay the flight and no sponsored on any expenses. Maybe deep down their heart they think I am crazy and stupid.

It took me one week to withdraw from the post-trip syndrome. Life at Muang Kham was too easy and straightforward. You have nothing to worry about except time passed too slow and the unlimited amount of rice by host lady awaiting for every lunch and dinner. Well, a week away from uni life and merged into the life of different culture was not a bad thing at all. At least I learnt how to see things in different way now.

Thanks for reading.
